About
Forest Studios
Forest Studios is a new live work studio complex founded
in 2002, located in Bruce Grove, in the heart of a multi cultural
quarter of Tottenham in the borough of Haringay, in North East London.
The studios are a converted Mews horse stables which were in a state
of disrepair until 2001. The scheme to re-develop the property into
live work units was funded in part by National Heritage and a corridor
regeneration grant from the EEC to bring new business opportunities
into this neglected area of North Tottenham. The scheme is supported
by Network Housing, developed by Solon Housing Cooperative and the
property is managed by MACE Housing Association. The units are fledgling
creative industries which will bring new client and business into
the area. The unit represent six single occupancy properties and two
house shares.
Bruce Grove was recently the subject of a BBC World Service radio
documentary which described the area as 'the most multicultural area
in the world' because of the rich and amazing ethnic mix in the area
which houses 160 different first languages. Forest Studios are proud
to be part of this diversity and future projects aim to be community
led, working with other community and arts organisations in the borough
including the Chocolate Factory studios, Collage Arts, and Bruce Castle
Museum.
The studios aim to foster an environment of inclusivity and shared
learning, in which all members can create and work in their own space
as well as utilising the varied media in which artists are working
to bring together new ideas and projects.
